A medical fitness test is mandatory for all new UAE residence visa applicants aged 18 and above, and for most visa renewals. The test checks for communicable diseases including tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis and leprosy. Typing centers assist with the application typing, appointment booking at approved health centers and follow-up on results.

What the Medical Test Includes
Blood test: Screens for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis
Chest X-ray: Screens for tuberculosis (TB) and other pulmonary conditions
Results timeline: 3–5 working days in most cases. Urgent results available at some centers (same day or next day for additional fee)
Fit/Unfit: If the result is "Unfit", the applicant is typically referred for further assessment or deportation proceedings depending on the condition detected

How Long Is the Certificate Valid
Medical fitness certificates are valid for 3 months from the date of issue. If your visa application is not completed within 3 months, you will need to repeat the medical test.
